IELTS stands for international English language testing system. It. is an English test which aims at measuring the proficiency in speaking or communicating in english language.
IELTS is designed for people from the countries where English is not the primary language. It is for those who wish to work or study in an English speaking country.
The system is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP Education Ltd and University of Cambridge ESOL examinations and more than one million candidates take the exam all over the world.
Academic Version is for people who plan to continue their higher education in an English speaking country.
General training is mostly for immigration purposes. It may also be used for work experience or training in a non academic field.
The questionnaire is different for academic and general version.
The test is conducted every year in around 500 locations across the globe and each test centre can conduct the test 4 times per month. So totally tests can be conducted 48 times per year. There is no limit for candidates to take the test again.
An ielts scale between 6 to 7 is considered by most universities while admitting students.
